is there live with new information for us. a very active scene still, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, marla. i just heard from the spokesperson from alameda spokesperson. he's on the way to the scene to give us more information. we're on marcella street which is the road that runs right in front of hillside elementary. you can see for a couple blocks it is still shut down. deputies have got this area shut down. the school is off to the right up on that mound there. you can see red lights of the school. it was around 8:45 last night well after the kids were off campus after school was out of session that someone called 911 because they heard multiple shots fired. when the alameda county sheriff's office arrived, they found a young man, an adult but young man, on campus suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. they took him to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. they are telling us that this is the first homicide of the year for them. it appears they have not made any arrests as of yet. if you want to look at our live chopper video you can get a sense of where the shooting

a mother and two children. it happened on crest view drive in pittsburgh. alex savage is there to tell us about the discovery which could lead to an arrest, alex? >> reporter: investigators were able to find the car they believed was involved in the crash but the driver is nowhere to be found. a mother and two children were making their way across and came here to crest view drive and they were in this crosswalk when the car ploughed into them. it is unclear how fast the driver was going but neighbors say cars are always speeding around here. this was the scene after the crash around 6:00 last night and one of those children was airlifted by paramedics to a nearby hospital. another small child was put into an ambulance and driven to the hospital. the woman was also taken to the hospital by ambulance but we do not have information about their specific injuries. now the car that hit the woman and two kids drove off after the accident and police found it abandoned just up the road but the driver is still on the loose this morning. neighbors are not surprised by this crash. one neighbor said

gisignati this asteroid. this large piece of rock is about 150 feet in diameter. it will pass by us at 17,200 miles above earth. that's closer than some of our satellites. unfortunately for us in the bay area, it will be too dim and not visible to the naked eye but they will host a viewing party using one of the large telescopes tonight. now even with that you won't be able to see the features of the asteroids like craters but you will be able to see an object. tiny dot of light. that's how conrad chung described it to me. drifting across the night sky and you might even be able to detect its rotation through variations in brightness. their viewing party is tonight. 7:30 to 10:30 here at one of their observatories and it is free and open to the public. again, not visible to naked eye. if you have a nifty telescope behind me, you will see this dot going across the sky. doesn't happen often. reporting live in oakland, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> this morning mountain view's nasa ames is under investigation accused of sharing secret weapon system technology with china and other countr

. abc7 news reporter joins us live from concord with what we are lending about the boy. katy? >> beverly the fact that he is 14, police are only confirming he attends a nearby school. but he could go to mount diabolo high school just down the street from the scene of the accident at grant street. the accident happened about 1:30 yesterday afternoon. we have this video and you can see the police working in the intersection where the boy was hit. yesterday was actually a school holiday so it is unclear why he was in the area of his school. we know he was in a crosswalk. the driver who hit him did stop and is cooperating with police and the investigation the boy suffered life-threatening internal injuries. he is in critical condition at last check. i talked with the police department and they could not give me an update and i reached out to oakland children's hospital where he was transferred after being taken to john muir hospital. i have not heard back from either on the boy's condition. this intersection, locals know, is dangerous. you can see when you look at it, it is clearly marked wi
